Invergordon
We were one of the first
few customers so our order was taken and delivered quickly. On busy periods
you can wait 5 minutes to be served. The food was served within 10 minutes.
The food appeared to be grilled
with a fried egg. The breakfast had only the basic ingredients for what we
would consider to be a full Scottish; Sausage, bacon, egg, black pudding,
tattie scone, beans, tomato and toast. The fried egg was nicely cooked with a
runny yolk and not too greasy. The sausages were nothing special to write
home about but they weren’t bad. I wasn’t hungry after this breakfast
but I didn’t feel stuffed and I feel that you should after a full Scottish.
There was room on the plate to add some extra items like a lorne sausage and
haggis. The bonus of this restaurant is that you get a full pot of tea with
your breakfast, which you can fill 2 cups with – other restaurants have only
provided one mug of tea, and you have usually drank this before your meal
arrives.
This breakfast lost favour from the judges for not giving the customer the choice of how they would like their
eggs cooked and the plate looked slightly empty. There were no points
added for extra items or the quality of produce.
This breakfast can only
be described as average, which is disappointing considering the quality
usually served in the Tomich Restaurant. An increase in the items supplied on
the plate could make the breakfast a little more memorable and filling.
Recommendations
for the Owner to achieve Full Scottish Breakfast Greatness:
(In
order of priority)
1. Give the customer the
choice of eggs.
2. Addition of haggis
(this would fill the customer up).
3. Swap a links sausage
for a lorne sausage.
4. Addition of
mushrooms.

UPDATE
It is nice to see that
the owners of Tomich Restaurant, Invergordon have taken note of one of our
recommendations – or at least it’s nice to think it was our input that
brought the change. They have now given the customer the choice of egg;
poached, scrambled or fried. While we never eat the breakfast the second time
we visited, it was written on the board. I wonder if there is now a lorne
sausage and haggis included too?
